July 29th Restore our Shores will be hosting an Oyster Gardening Workshop in Merritt island Public Library (1195 N.Courtenay Pkwy).
Lagoon-front property owners throughout Brevard County can grow oysters from their dock and help monitor variables that affect growth and survival.

The training will instruct how to care for the oysters and they will provide all materials needed. Oyster Spat babies are given out in October – November timeframe. There is an active oyster bed on Banana River and Sykes creek at the Girl Scouts property. The Zoo is working to add another and we can contribute our fosterlings to that or the existing bed.
